The economics of software development are undergoing a seismic shift. Where building a minimum viable product once required $215,000 in engineering and legal costs, AI tools like Claude Code and Opus have collapsed that figure to under $450. Eigen Labs researcher Kydo argues this inversion makes decentralized autonomous organizations structurally superior to traditional LLCs.

"When production costs approach zero, that $15,000 LLC formation fee becomes the dominant expense," Kydo noted. DAO setup costs of $50-$250 now represent a 99% reduction in organizational overhead. This financial advantage may finally deliver on DAOs' promise beyond ideological appeals to decentralization.

The numbers reveal a stark contrast. Traditional startups allocate 93% of initial capital to engineering talent, while AI-empowered builders can ship products for less than the cost of a business license. This paradigm shift suggests DAOs could become the default vehicle for software innovation in the AI era.
